Our very own Laura looked amazing yesterday at the Palmerston North Christmas parade. She entered the decorate your bike competition with Connor, Leela and Ashton! Laura won 3rd place for her entry. Well done Laura.

A massive congratulations to the following children who decided that they didn't understand what was being taught in their maths workshop so came back for extra coaching.  Really proud that you were so courageous and honest about your learning.

Congratulations to Lily who received Player of the Day at Hockey on Tuesday.  Good work Lily.

Lexy

It was great to meet Lexy this morning.  She is Chloe's black labrador and is crossed with a kelpie.  Lexy is 3 years old and loves to sleep on the deck at night.

A big congratulations to Hayley who scored her first goal in Hockey last night and got awarded Player of the Day.

Digi Awards

On Tuesday night something very special happened! The Manwatu Digi Awards were held at the Regent Theatre and we had three Whakarongo School representatives from Aroha Pod which was amazing.

But there would be even more great news on the night, as Olivia G, Olivia A and Ashleigh won first place for the year 1 - 3 photo essay. This is an amazing achievement and they should be extremely proud.

They now have their names on a trophy that will sit at school so that everyone can see their success.

Well done guys, you have made Aroha Pod proud.

Helicopter Adventure

Hendrix was lucky enough to go for a ride in a helicopter with his Grandad yesterday. What a treat! It looks like you had a fabulous time.

More goodies

Wow!  Class reporters have done an amazing job today.

Brendon made a cake.  He even knows it's a 3D circle vanilla cake.  In the weekend, Isaac made super secret recipe fudge with his sister.

The lifecycle of a butterfly

We have been learning about metamorphosis and how this means that something changes it's entire body shape as part of the life cycle process.  Here are some Explain Everything presentations that our students put together to explain the process.

These two boys have worked really hard today.  They finished writing their stories about Mrs Coender's lizard Gizmo so had time to do another activity.

Maths

How exciting to have such a cool maths session this morning.  There is nothing more exciting than seeing our students working hard to solve equations using materials if they need to.  The discussions they had with each other were amazing!

Today Erin-Renee (and her Mum) brought in Millie to meet us.  Millie is 11 years old and Erin-Renee's Mum and Dad got her when she was 3 months old from Taupo.  Erin-Renee wasn't even born then!  Millie's cool pink collar and lead comes from Wet Pets.

Brain Food

How super gorgeous was Isaac's brain food yesterday?!?!?  We thought they were simply the cutest bits of fruit ever and we were lucky enough to have some for our brain food today.  Thanks so much Isaac (and Isaac's Mum) for making us some too.

Sheba

We were so lucky today!  Elise's Grandmother brought in her dog Sheba that Elise and Kaija help train.  What a well behaved dog she is!  Sheba can do some really incredible tricks.  Lucky Isabella was able to have Sheba eat out of her hand and she got her through the hoop!

We were really lucky to have Mr Durham come and show our Pod the bikes his son has made at his High School.

Mini Bikes

We were so lucky this morning that Mr Durham (yes, Mrs Durham's husband) brought in their son Klynton's mini bikes that he made at Freyberg High School.  Klynton built the green one and found the blue one in a rubbish bin at his after school job.
When Klynton raced his bikes at Manfield, he won all three races.  He even broke the lap record!!

Thank you so much to the Durham's for showing us Klynton's bikes and to Mrs Cobham for organising the visit.
